Introduction to Conscious Self-Leadership

Good morning, good afternoon, wherever you are. This is Chris, and today we are diving into the essence of conscious leadership. At its core, conscious leadership begins with conscious self-leadership. We cannot give what we haven’t got, a fundamental principle that underscores the importance of leading ourselves before leading others.

The Illusion of Delegation Without Personal Commitment

For many years, I lived under the illusion that I could achieve my goals by convincing others to do what I wasn’t willing to do myself. It’s easy to dictate what others should do without holding ourselves to the same standards.

Hypocrisy in Leadership

When we fail to practice self-leadership, we fall into the trap of hypocrisy. We accuse others of not being committed or not meeting standards that we set but do not follow. This approach is inherently flawed and erodes trust and respect.

The Core Principle: You Can’t Give What You Haven’t Got

To enter the stream of conscious leadership, we must abandon operating from hate, greed, and anger. Instead, we embrace self-leadership, involving a daily practice to avoid these destructive patterns.

The Back-on-Track Process

I developed the Back-on-Track process, a daily practice involving seven steps that take less than half an hour. Here are the key elements:

1. Managing Your Mind

Balance all things and see the silver lining in every cloud. This mindset places us in the stream of consciousness.

2. Physical Well-being

Take care of your physical health. Avoid extremes – whether excess or deficiency – to maintain health.

3. Environmental Awareness

A clean, organised environment fosters positive feelings. Managing our surroundings is vital for maintaining a balanced state.

4. Setting and Maintaining Priorities

Identify and stick to your highest priorities. By focusing on top priorities, we ensure positive impacts on all areas of our lives.

5. Vision, Inspiration, Purpose (VIP)

Have a clear vision, inspiration, and purpose. This VIP framework guides our actions and decisions, keeping us aligned with our goals.

6. Self-Talk

Ensure your self-talk aligns with your goals. Adjusting it helps manage expectations and maintain a positive mindset.

7. Continuous Adaptation and Evolution

Regularly update your practices and mindset to remain effective and resilient leaders.

Moving Beyond Negative States

The first step in conscious leadership is committing to not operate from anger, hate, or greed. This commitment, supported by self-leadership practices, allows us to lead authentically and effectively.

Mindfulness and Awareness

The second stage of conscious leadership involves mindfulness and awareness. Being mindful of our feelings, thoughts, and surroundings influences our leadership.

Effort and Intent

Effort in leadership must be intentional. Focus on doing what you love and loving what you do. The third level of human leadership consciousness is effort. My intent is clean and pure, which is where we derive self-respect and resilience, the true strength of a leader.

Conclusion

Conscious leadership begins with mastering self-leadership through daily practices. By managing our mind, physical well-being, environment, priorities, vision, self-talk, and maintaining continuous adaptation, we lay the groundwork for effective leadership. The purity of our intent solidifies our resilience and self-respect, enabling us to lead authentically and powerfully.

This is Chris. You have a great day. Bye for now.
